Cultural issues

Culture Issues

An important element of business trust is anticipating how the other party to a transaction will act in specific circumstances. That is one reason why companies with established brands can build online businesses more quickly and easily than a new company without a reputation. The brand conveys some expectations about how the company will behave. For example, a potential buyer might like to know how the seller would react to a claim by the buyer that the seller misrepresented the quality of the goods sold. Part of this knowledge derives from the buyer and seller sharing a common language and common customs. Business partners ideally have a common legal structure for resolving disputes. The combination of language and customs is often called culture. Most researchers agree that culture varies across national boundaries and, in many cases, varies across regions within nations. All companies must be aware of the differences in language and customs that make up the culture of any region in which they intend to do business.

Do you think culture issues is important? Then why?

  1. Each society, country and culture will have numerous nuances that would make it irresponsible to suggest a uniform approach to understanding any country's social/business culture or etiquette. One also has to take into account the personal cultures of individuals, whether they be religious, regional, gender, corporate or otherwise. However, loose guidelines can assist in better understanding and avoiding offence; and these guides are meant only to achieve that. CULTURE IS NOT STATIC!

  2. Yes, for me we need to be aware with cultural issues, because as we all know Globalization is the new trend in business so that we had no choice but to communicate w/ others who has different beliefs, laguages and culture. So that for me all we need to do is to accept and appreciate everyone's culture differences.

  5. Lets say that your a successful businessman here in the Philippines, and you decided to put your products on a gobal scale. You put up a branch in Japan, the first thing you need to know is their culture. Can their culture affect your sales? Or can your product affect their culture?

So you really need to know it first.
